Operators of the Shanghai Expo Exhibition Center are working out a series of
measures including recruiting more volunteers and shortening waiting times to
improve services due to strong demand since opening on May 1.
The number of total visitors surpassed 20,000 as of yesterday and licensed
Expo 2010 products were selling out at the center every day. Employees were busy
booking reservations and hundreds of online bookings were being received daily.
The center will launch volunteer recruitment next month. They want 30 to 50
youngsters, mainly senior university students, to give bilingual introductions
to the center to visitors on weekends and holidays. The center already has 37
volunteer guides.
The center has cut interval times of waiting guests to 15 minutes from 60
minutes and will allow all residents aged above 70 to enter without waiting.
Officials have added facilities to help disabled people and opened a hotline
offering a medical guide to visitors in case of emergency.
