World Expo Shanghai established its first promotion team comprised of college students, organizers said at Shanghai University yesterday.

Shanghai University selected 74 volunteers for the team. The students will organize community activities to promote Expo 2010.

Teng Jianyong, vice secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Shanghai University, said the team will be a very meaningful social practice for college students.

Song Xu, a member of the team, said she wanted to participate in the Expo since Shanghai won the bid six years ago.

Also yesterday, Huang Yaocheng, counselor for national participation with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, delivered a speech talking about the latest progress in Expo preparations.
