Chinese portal Sina.com has initiated a guessing contest as the mascot of
World Expo 2010 will be unveiled on Tuesday after a year-long selection.
The Website also asked netizens to choose their favorite mascot from past
World Expos. According to the latest results, Fluvi from the Zaragoza Expo in
2008 is the most loved.
Fluvi is a water creature with a semi-translucent and jelly-like body.
Organisers received 26,655 entries in the worldwide Expo mascot design
competition that ran from January 17 to May 31. The youngest person to submit an
entry was only three years old, and the oldest was 83.
The winning design must also be flexible and able to be used in broadcasting
and re-creation, said organizers.
