The China Post Bureau today issued the first set of World Expo Shanghai
stamps to mark the debut of its mascot Haibao.
There are 20,000 sets of Expo stamps featuring the Expo logo and Haibao now
available in Shanghai. Shanghai Daily found that some stamp collectors have been
waiting in lines for the stamps since yesterday afternoon.
The post bureau also plans to issue other Expo stamps on different themes in
the coming three years.
Meanwhile, 128 licensed products hit the market this morning.
A Shanghai Daily reporter went to an authorized outlet in Juneyao
International Plaza in Xuhui District at 9am and found a huge Haibao model at
the door greeting customers.
A 20-centimeter-high Haibao stuffed toy costs 45 yuan (US$6.10) and a Haibao
handset accessory is 12 yuan.
Other items such as cups and pillows are also available at 16 outlets in
Shanghai, including:
1. Oriental Pearl Tower gift shop -- 1 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area
2. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center -- 1F, 100 People's Avenue
3. Juneyao International Plaza -- 1F, 789 Zhaojiabang Road.
