2007-12-19

The China Post Bureau today issued the first set of World Expo Shanghai stamps to mark the debut of its mascot Haibao.

There are 20,000 sets of Expo stamps featuring the Expo logo and Haibao now available in Shanghai. Shanghai Daily found that some stamp collectors have been waiting in lines for the stamps since yesterday afternoon.

The post bureau also plans to issue other Expo stamps on different themes in the coming three years.

Meanwhile, 128 licensed products hit the market this morning.

A Shanghai Daily reporter went to an authorized outlet in Juneyao International Plaza in Xuhui District at 9am and found a huge Haibao model at the door greeting customers.

A 20-centimeter-high Haibao stuffed toy costs 45 yuan (US$6.10) and a Haibao handset accessory is 12 yuan.

Other items such as cups and pillows are also available at 16 outlets in Shanghai, including:

1. Oriental Pearl Tower gift shop -- 1 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area

2. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center -- 1F, 100 People's Avenue

3. Juneyao International Plaza -- 1F, 789 Zhaojiabang Road.
