Juneyao Group has signed a quality control contract with China Certification
and Inspection Group Co Ltd to guarantee that the Expo's licensed products are
safe and environmentally-friendly.
The contract covers the quality
control and supervision services for Expo's licensed products, including testing
and certification.
Meanwhile, a Haibao toy wearing a red Spring
Festival costume will make its debut this month to cater for the huge demand for
Shanghai Expo mascot products and greet the Chinese New Year on February
8.
The Haibao soft toy has been very popular since it was unveiled
December 18, Liu Shuyuan, senior supervisor at the marketing department of
Juneyao, a producer of Expo's licensed products, told Shanghai Daily.
The
35-centimeter-high Haibao, costing 95 yuan (US$13.12), has sold out throughout
the city, Liu said, but there were still some Haibao toys in a smaller size left
in the licensed stores. But the next batch will be available on the market on
Sunday, Liu added.
Shanghai now has 16 outlets selling 128 kinds of Expo
licensed products, which are still being produced in limited quantities.
Organizers said mass production will start later this year.
Juneyao, one
of the senior sponsors of the Expo, has made products for events including the
Beijing Olympics, Formula One and the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup.
